How it works
About this test
This ANCA test uses immunofluorescence (IFA) to look for antibodies against neutrophils, a type of white cell. The pattern seen (C-ANCA or P-ANCA) helps diagnose vasculitis.
Why is this test done?
- Screen for small-vessel vasculitis
- Investigate kidney and lung problems together
- Read with PR3 and MPO tests
Symptoms — when should you get tested?
- Blood in urine
- Cough with blood
- Long-lasting sinus problems
- Rash, fever and joint pain
Normal range
Reference ranges differ slightly between labs, methods, age and sex. Always discuss your report with your doctor.
If your result is high
A positive result with a C-ANCA or P-ANCA pattern supports vasculitis, usually confirmed with PR3/MPO tests.
