How it works
About this test
This is the charge for a biopsy where 2 slides are prepared and examined. A tissue sample taken by your doctor is processed into thin slides, stained and checked under the microscope by a pathologist.
Why is this test done?
- Find whether a growth is cancer or not
- Confirm the type of disease
- Larger or multiple tissue pieces need more slides
Symptoms — when should you get tested?
- Symptoms your doctor wants to look into
- A known condition that needs regular monitoring
- Family history of a related illness
- Before starting or changing a treatment
