How it works
About this test
HLA-B27 is a gene marker found more often in people with ankylosing spondylitis and related joint diseases. This PCR test shows whether you carry it.
Why is this test done?
- Support diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis
- Investigate long-lasting back pain in young adults
- Investigate eye inflammation (uveitis) with joint pain
Symptoms — when should you get tested?
- Lower back pain and stiffness, worse in the morning
- Pain improves with exercise
- Red, painful eyes
- Heel or joint pain
