How it works
About this test
ICP (I) is a pathology processing charge, not a separate test. It covers extra laboratory work on a biopsy or cytology sample, such as additional special stains, and is billed by level (I, II, III) according to the amount of work needed.
Why is this test done?
- Added when your pathologist needs extra processing to reach a diagnosis
- Billed along with your biopsy or cytology test
Symptoms — when should you get tested?
- Symptoms your doctor wants to look into
- A known condition that needs regular monitoring
- Family history of a related illness
- Before starting or changing a treatment
Normal range
Normal values for ICP I depend on your age, sex and the testing method. Your report shows the reference range used by our lab next to your result, and our pathologist marks anything outside it.
Reference ranges differ slightly between labs, methods, age and sex. Always discuss your report with your doctor.
